How quality is built in
Four controls that decide gearbox life
A gearbox fails at its weakest control. These are the four we hold hardest, because they are the ones that show up in the field.
Surface hardness
Gears and shafts are quenched to achieve high surface hardness on the load-carrying flanks while keeping a tough core. Automatic heat treatment equipment keeps the cycle, and therefore the result, consistent across batches.
Dimensional accuracy
Components are manufactured to ISO 286 tolerance grades IT4 to IT7. That controls bearing seat fit, spline engagement and gear centre distance, which together determine backlash, noise and contact pattern.
Sealing and bearings
High quality oil seals and bearings are specified as standard. In field conditions, contamination and lubricant loss cause more failures than tooth loading does, so this is where we do not substitute.
Pre-delivery inspection
Every gearbox is run on a custom testing rig for noise, vibration, temperature rise and leak-tightness before despatch. A unit that has not turned under load does not leave the works.
